Connect the shapes, fill the grid

Shape link is a path puzzle: each shape appears twice, and your job is to join the two with a line. The twist is that the lines must fill every square, so there is always a clue hiding in the corners and along the edges.

Press New puzzles for a fresh set whenever you like. The small 5 by 5 grids are a gentle start for young solvers, while the 7 by 7 grids take real thinking. A full page of four makes a good car trip, and a ten page booklet lasts a whole rainy week.

How do you solve a shape link puzzle?
Draw a line from each shape to the other one just like it, moving from square to square without going diagonally. Lines cannot cross or share a square, and every square in the grid must end up with a line through it. That last rule is a big help: a square with only one way out tells you where a line has to go.
Does each puzzle have just one answer?
Yes. Every puzzle is checked by a solver that tries all the possibilities, and it is only used if exactly one way of drawing the lines fills the grid. You never have to wonder if your answer is the right one.
Which size should I choose for children?
Start with Kids 5 x 5, which has just 3 to 5 pairs and short lines. When that feels easy, move up to 6 x 6, then 7 x 7, where the lines have to wind around each other.
Do I need colour to tell the shapes apart?
No. The pairs are told apart by their outline: circles, squares, triangles, stars, hearts, crosses and so on, some solid and some hollow. They look just as clear on a black and white printer, so kids can use any pencil or crayon they like for the lines.
Can I make a whole book of puzzles?
Yes. Choose 1, 2, 4 or 6 puzzles a page and up to 10 pages, which makes up to 60 different puzzles. The answer pages come at the end, six to a page, with every line drawn in purple.
